Minimally Invasive Surgery:
Veterinary Surgery with Less Trauma & Faster Healing

At Northgate Animal Hospital, we offer our patients the latest in veterinary technology, including endoscopic surgery. Endoscopic surgery uses scopes going through small incisions or natural body openings in order to diagnose and treat disease. Another popular term for this technology is minimally invasive surgery (MIS), which emphasizes that diagnosis and treatments can be done with greatly reduced intrusion into the body.
Endoscopic surgery is used for diagnostic (for example, biopsy) or surgical procedures (gastropexy, urinary stone removal, hysterectomy). Many procedures can be performed using minimally invasive surgery, with either a rigid endoscope or a flexible endoscope. These minimally invasive procedures include the following:
- Rhinoscopy
- Bronchoscopy
- Arthroscopy
- Thoracoscopy
- Laparoscopy
- G.I. endoscopy
- Colonoscopy
- Vaginoscopy
- Cystoscopy
- Otoscopy
